Historic homes in the Orleans County seat

Albion is the county seat of Orleans County, and the Erie Canal runs through the heart of the village. The Orleans County Courthouse Historic District is on the National Register of Historic Places, as is Mount Albion Cemetery, and the Pullman Memorial Universalist Church, built by George Pullman in 1894, is a local landmark. Albion was also home to several Medina Sandstone quarries, and that stone shows up in buildings throughout the area.

Albion's housing is among the oldest we work on. More than four in ten homes in the village were built before 1940, and the typical home dates to the 1950s. Older homes like these often have more than one layer of roofing to tear off, decking that needs attention, and wood trim and sills hiding rot behind paint. We check for those conditions during the estimate so there are fewer surprises once work begins.

How we help Albion homeowners

The Village of Albion has its own Code Enforcement & Fire Prevention office for homes inside the village, including the part of the village in the Town of Gaines. Homes outside the village go through the Town of Albion Code Enforcement Office. If your project requires a permit, we'll discuss the requirements with you before work begins.
