A neighboring town we know well

Greece borders Parma to the east, so Greece homeowners are some of our closest neighbors outside Hilton. Greece is one of the largest towns in Monroe County, and much of its housing went up in the decades after World War II: ranches, capes, split-levels and colonials on suburban streets off Ridge Road, Latta Road and Long Pond Road. Many of those homes are now on their second or third roof, and plenty still have original windows and aging siding.

The northern part of Greece runs along Lake Ontario and Braddock Bay, where lake-effect snow and wind are strongest. Homes there see more ice dams and wind-lifted shingles than homes farther inland. Low-slope ranch roofs with shallow attics are especially prone to ice dams when attic ventilation is poor, so we check intake and exhaust venting on every Greece roof we quote.
