Historic Le Roy, from Main Street to Lime Rock

Le Roy is the birthplace of Jell-O, which was invented and first made here; the Jell-O Gallery museum, run by the Le Roy Historical Society, sits behind the Le Roy House. The village was incorporated in 1834 at the crossing of Routes 5 and 19, Oatka Creek flows north through town past the old mill sites, and the Le Roy House, First Presbyterian Church, Keeney House and Machpelah Cemetery are all on the National Register of Historic Places. East of the village, the town sits on a limestone escarpment, with the hamlet of Lime Rock.

Half of the homes in the village were built before 1940. Older homes like these often have multiple roof layers, aging wood siding and original windows. We check decking, trim and sills during the estimate and price any necessary repairs up front, so your new roof, siding or windows go on over a sound structure.

How we help Le Roy homeowners

Code enforcement for both the village and the town works out of the Town of Le Roy offices at 48 Main Street, where building permit applications are handled. If your project requires a permit, we'll discuss the requirements with you before work begins.
