Experience with Rochester's older housing

Rochester has some of the oldest housing in the region. Much of the city was built before 1940, with foursquares, Victorians, colonial revivals and two-family houses in neighborhoods such as Park Avenue, Highland Park, the South Wedge, Corn Hill, North Winton Village and Charlotte. These homes often have several layers of old roofing, original wood siding under later siding, and windows that have been painted shut for decades.

Westside Developers has worked in the Rochester area for decades, and older homes call for a careful approach: checking roof decking and rafters before re-roofing, finding and repairing rot behind trim, and matching the proportions of original windows. City lots are also tight, so we plan material deliveries, dumpster placement and ladder access around driveways, neighbors and street parking.
