Historic Ridge Road homes and newer neighborhoods

Clarkson was formed from the Town of Murray in 1819 and grew up along Ridge Road (NY-104), once the main highway between Rochester and Niagara Falls. The Clarkson Corners Historic District, where Ridge Road crosses Route 19, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and the hamlets of Garland and Redman Corners are also in town. A small part of the Village of Brockport extends into Clarkson as well.

Clarkson's housing is a mix. It has the newest housing of any town we serve in western Monroe County, with a median build year in the late 1980s, yet almost one in five homes was built before 1940. That means we see everything from replacing the first roof on a 1990s colonial to working carefully around old trim and layered roofing on a 19th-century farmhouse.

How we help Clarkson homeowners

Building permits in Clarkson are issued by the Town of Clarkson Building Department at Town Hall on Lake Road. Homes inside the Brockport village limits go through the Village of Brockport. If your project requires a permit, we'll discuss the requirements with you before work begins.
