Lakeshore homes, a short drive from our office

Hamlin sits just west of the Town of Parma, so Hamlin homeowners are some of our closest neighbors. Lake Ontario forms the town's northern boundary, with Hamlin Beach State Park on the shore in the northwest corner and lakeside communities such as Sandy Harbor Beach and Shore Acres along the water. Inland, the hamlets of Hamlin, North Hamlin, Morton, Troutburg and Walker are mostly single-family homes, and close to nine in ten homes in town are owner-occupied.

Homes near the lake take the brunt of wind and lake-effect snow off the water. On those roofs we pay close attention to ice and water barrier along the eaves, flashing at walls and chimneys, and shingles fastened to the manufacturer's wind specifications. With a median build year in the mid-1970s, many Hamlin homes are also due for their second roof, new windows or replacement siding.

How we help Hamlin homeowners

Building permits in Hamlin are issued by the Town of Hamlin Building Inspector. The town notes that new house plans or permits inside its Local Waterfront Revitalization Program area along the lake can take a week or more, so lakeshore projects should allow for that. If your project requires a permit, we'll discuss the requirements with you before work begins.
