A canal village with older homes

Holley sits on the Erie Canal in the southeast part of the Town of Murray, which shares its eastern border with the Town of Clarkson in Monroe County. The village was incorporated in 1850, originally under the name Saltport, and is named for Erie Canal commissioner Myron Holley. Excess canal water spills into the East Branch of Sandy Creek to form Holley Canal Falls, with a small park at its base.

More than half of the homes in the village were built before 1940, and across the Town of Murray the typical home dates to the early 1950s. Older homes like these often need multiple roof layers removed, decking repaired, and rotted trim or sills replaced before new siding or windows go in. We look for those conditions up front and price any needed repairs before additional work is done.

How we help Holley and Murray homeowners

The Village of Holley has its own code enforcement officer for homes inside the village, and the Town of Murray Code Enforcement office at Town Hall on Fancher Road handles the rest of the town. If your project requires a permit, we'll discuss the requirements with you before work begins.
