Lakeshore and farm country in northeast Orleans County

Kendall is in the northeast corner of Orleans County, with Lake Ontario along its northern edge and the Lake Ontario State Parkway running parallel to the shore. The town has a notable place in history: the Kendall Settlement, founded in 1825, was the first Norwegian immigrant community in the United States. Today Kendall is largely rural, and nearly nine in ten homes are owner-occupied.

Kendall's housing skews older, with a typical build year around 1960 and more than a third of homes built before 1940. Homes near the lake also face the strongest wind and lake-effect snow. On those roofs we focus on ice and water barrier at the eaves, solid flashing and properly fastened shingles, and we look at attic ventilation to help reduce ice dams.

How we help Kendall homeowners

Permits in Kendall are issued by the Town of Kendall Building Inspector / Code Enforcement Officer, and the town has no villages. According to the town's code office, a full tear-off re-roof requires a permit and inspection in Kendall, and shoreline erosion-control work needs both a town permit and a New York State DEC permit. If your project requires a permit, we'll discuss the requirements with you before work begins.
