Established suburbs east of Rochester

Penfield was established in 1810 and sits east of Rochester, with part of Irondequoit Bay in its northwest corner and Irondequoit Creek crossing its southwest corner. Nine sites in town are on the National Register of Historic Places, including the Daisy Flour Mill. Today Penfield is mostly suburban neighborhoods, and about four in five homes are owner-occupied.

Penfield's housing is relatively young: the typical home dates to around 1980, and only about 4% were built before 1940. Many of those homes are now due for their first or second roof replacement, along with original builder-grade windows and siding. Replacing roofing, siding, gutters and windows with one contractor keeps the drip edge, trim and flashing working together.
