If you have mature trees near the roofline, as many homes in Penfield, Pittsford and Henrietta do, fall is when gutters are tested hardest. Before the leaves come down, it helps to know whether yours need a cleaning, a repair or a replacement.

Probably just a cleaning

  • The gutters are straight and firmly attached, but plants or debris are growing out of them.
  • Water overflows during rain, but drains normally once the clog is cleared.

We offer gutter cleaning to keep gutters and downspouts flowing, which helps prevent clogs, overflow and water collecting where it should not.

Time to look at a repair

  • A loose hanger or a section pulling away from the fascia.
  • A leaking seam or end cap.
  • A downspout that sends water right next to the foundation.

Signs it is time to replace

  • Sagging runs, or gutters that hold standing water.
  • Rust, cracks or many patched joints.
  • Soft or rotted fascia behind the gutter.
  • Staining on siding below the gutter, or water running down the face of the house.

Gutters that back up at the eaves can also make ice dams worse in winter, so fall is a good time to sort this out.

What replacement looks like

We fabricate seamless gutters on-site from rust-free aluminum coil, so each run is cut to the exact length of your roof edge with joints only at corners and downspouts. We inspect the fascia and replace damaged boards as needed. Gutter protection is optional, and we commonly install Leaf Relief gutter guards. Most residential gutter installations are completed in one day.
